Safeguarding and Child Protection
Workshop Introduction:
Safeguarding is the action you take to promote the welfare of children and protect them from harm while the child protection is part of the safeguarding process. It focuses on protecting individual children identified as suffering, or likely to suffer, significant harm. This includes child protection procedures detailing how to respond to concerns about a child.
Learning outcomes:
- Understand the Importance of Safeguarding and Child Protection:
- Participants will gain an understanding of the legal and moral responsibilities in safeguarding children and promoting their welfare.
- They will be able to define safeguarding and child protection and recognize the difference between the two.
- Identify Signs of Abuse and Neglect:
- Participants will learn how to recognize the various signs of physical, emotional, sexual abuse, and neglect in children.
- They will be equipped to identify risk factors that may indicate a child is at risk.
- Know the Reporting Procedures:
- Participants will be able to outline the procedures for reporting concerns about child abuse or neglect, both internally (to nursery or school management) and externally (to relevant authorities).
- They will understand the importance of confidentiality and professionalism when dealing with sensitive information.

- Participants will understand their role within the child protection system and the responsibilities of different professionals, including educators, social workers, and law enforcement.

- Participants will learn how to create a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for children, reducing the risk of abuse and neglect.

- Participants will be trained on how to respond to disclosures or suspicions of abuse or neglect, ensuring.
